This Week’s Topic: Cross-Connect Fees
We’re back with another segment in your hunt for the perfect data center space. We’ll give you a hint: it’s very rare to find this offered, so once you do – you will want to secure your spot ASAP.…Did you figure it out? It’s Cross-Connect Fees or in 165 Halsey’s case, the non-existent monthly recurring cost (MRC) cross-connect fees we offer! We’re breaking it all down for you so continue scrolling to learn more. This week, you’ll learn:
- The definition of a cross-connect
- Cross-connection key benefits
- What fees data centers typically charge
What are Cross-Connects?
A cross-connect is a physical connection (ie: hardware) that links networks together. Cross-connections are responsible for securely transferring data between separate entities. As a colocation provider, we offer a vast variety of 60+ telecom providers to our customers presenting them with the option to pick and choose what works best for their organization. Our customers appreciate these options because it allows them to be competitive and curate an IT infrastructure that best suits their needs. There are several reasons why cross-connects are so beneficial but the main key to remember is latency (duration of transmitting data). Cross-connects are simply not prone to experiencing any congestion issues, which further enhances reliability.
Fees a Typical Data Center Charges That 165 Halsey Does NOT
Cross connects almost always have fees attached to them from the colo provider. There are typically two types of fees: a setup fee and an MRC. The monthly fees can range anywhere from $100-$300 per connection, which can quickly add up. At 165 Halsey, there is only one non-recurring charge after setup – a $500 charge for SM Fiber Cross Connects and $750 per Copper Cross-Connect. There are never any recurring monthly charges.
At 165 Halsey Street, we offer a multitude of connectivity solutions for your business. We are your go-to for reducing latency, improving connectivity, and providing flexibility. We’d love to hear from you to see how we can be of service. For leasing questions, please contact James Fitzgerald (212)-708-6741 or email us for more information.
